What we learned from 100 intakes

Since 2024 Conexco has processed 100 intakes. We looked at the numbers: which domains, how fast, and how often a pitch leads to a follow-up.

In May we received the hundredth intake since Conexco started in 2024. A good moment to look back at the data, now that every dossier lives in one structured database instead of a spreadsheet.

Digital health and software is by far the largest domain with 38 percent of all intakes, followed by medical devices (17 percent), data and AI (14 percent) and care logistics (11 percent). Home care and remote monitoring is the fastest-growing category, with most of its intakes arriving in the last twelve months. Two thirds of the companies are Belgian; the rest come mainly from the Netherlands, France and Germany.

The median time from intake to pitch is 19 days. That includes screening, slot booking and the invitation to all members. The median time from pitch to consolidated feedback is 41 days, within the 60-day promise, but the spread is wide: dossiers pitched just before the summer wait longest.

27 percent of all intakes led to at least one individual follow-up between a company and a member organisation, and 12 percent to a signed study, pilot or co-development agreement. Commercial proposals that fall outside the pre-commercial focus (18 percent of intakes) were forwarded to purchasing or innovation contacts of individual members.

What we take from this: the process works best for validation studies and pilots with a clear clinical question, exactly the focus we describe on the intake form. The two numbers we want to improve are the summer delay in feedback and the share of members submitting written feedback per dossier, which is 64 percent today.
